When Water Hits, SERVPRO Makes It "Like it never even happened."

I wanted to reach out to you and thank you for all that you did! It was so comforting when Paul called you late afternoon, you came over with your crew and took charge of the situation. Your guys finished yesterday moving the furniture, a special kudos to Skylar for his very polite and helpful actions!

SERVPRO of North Elkhart County can help with fire damage and smoke damage

A home had a mechanical failure in a small appliance in their basement that resulted in it smoldering all day long, and wasn't found until the home owner got home after work. The result was smoke damage throughout the entire house and this soot covered webbing in their basement shows just how much smoke was present in the home.

SERVPRO Tips: Flood Warning vs. Flood Watch-What's the difference?

Flood Watch = “Be Aware.” Conditions are right for flooding to occur in your area.

Steps to Take

  • Turn on your TV/radio. You will receive the latest weather updates and emergency instructions.
  • Know where to go. You may need to reach higher ground quickly and on foot.
  • Build or restock your emergency preparedness kit. Include a flashlight, batteries, cash, and first aid supplies.

Flood Warning = "Take Action!" Flooding is either happening or will happen shortly.

Steps to Take

  • Move immediately to higher ground or stay on high ground.Evacuate if directed.
  • Avoid walking or driving through flood waters. Turn Around, Don’t Drown! Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down and 2 feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.

SERVPRO Tips: Flood Waters Can Be Seriously Dangerous

Did you know that flood waters bring more than just high water? They also bring diseases, health risks, and chemical hazards as well. To learn more about the risks as well as ways to prepare visit the CDC website. You can go to the Extreme Weather Events tab and click on Floods.

So give us a call! We are faster to any disaster and are ready to make things "Like it never even happened."

Confusion surrounding mold remediation

Confusion and misunderstanding surround the topic of mold and mold remediation. Some restoration businesses even make claims to remove all mold from a building. This is a fallacy. Mold spores occur naturally almost everywhere, both indoors and outdoors. These microscopic spores float along in the air and can enter a home or business through windows and HVAC systems.

Commercial Mold Remediation

This commercial business had microbial growth on the ceilings, walls, and in the HVAC unit. Containment was set and negative air put in. As well as the contents covered.

Most commercial clients want these conditions fixed as quickly as possible especially if there is any interference with daily business.

Hot water heater leak

This hot water heater had been leaking for a while, hits the mold growth, but it let loose one morning leaving the homeowner with a water damage and mold remediation job

Duct work Mold

This is a picture from a commercial loss building that was wondering why their employees felt sick. Mold was being pumped along with the air all throughout their building which in-turn their employees were breathing.

Mold: Crawlspace Edition

This home owner called us for a simple water damage but it turned out that they had more growing in the crawl space. We were able to mitigate their loss quickly so mold would not spread to other parts of the crawl space.

Leaky Roof? SERVPRO to the rescue!

This is what we found when we arrived to an apartment complex to find that they have had a roof leak for some time. We had to remove all of the drywall and found that they have been having a leaky roof for quite some time.

Kitchen Fire!

SERVPRO was dispatched to a job this past week to a fire. This fire ended up being a total loss but our crew still had many tasks to do on this jobsite before the home is taken down.

The crew performed an inventory list of all items in the house whether salvageable or not. This list includes all items from silverware to furniture and so much more.

After the inventory has been completed our staff performed a pack out of the items to bring back to the warehouse for Ozone Treatment and Cleaning of salvageable items.

An Ozone Treatment deodorizes, disinfects, and kills or removes dangerous or irritating airborne particles in indoor environments.

The crew finished up with cleaning out the house of all the debris that was left from the fire.

Electronics on Fire

SERVPRO was dispatched out to a fire loss where there were electronics that took a new shape.

Even though the fire was deemed a total loss, SERVPRO still has plenty of areas they help in clean up and getting the house ready for tear down. Inventory of all of the customer's belongings and cleanup of the debris from the fire.

In this picture some of the electronics were pulled from the fire and you can see the unique shapes that plastic around electronics can form. Sometimes the electronics have saving hardware attached to it and the customers information can still be saved.

Cooking Fire Safety Tips

    • Stay alert and if you find yourself
    • Staying in the kitchen while you are preparing food is important not just for the sake of checking it, but it also helps you remember that you are in the process of cooking. Get a timer to help you keep track of cooking times.
    • Keep your stove top clean and do not store things near it. Get all your kitchen stuff like oven mitts, utensils made from wood, towels and things that can easily catch on fire away from the stove.
    • Get a smoke detector installed in your home. Stats show that this detector could actually double your chances of surviving a fire
